This talk was great. It touched on so many topics. I really enjoyed hearing that personas are not dead yet, and that they can be really useful when done right. I really appreciated Krispian, Candace and Simone sharing with us their work flow and how they tackled user research step by step. Thanks guys.

Veronica's presentation was interesting and timely. It was great to see what quantitative methods are being utilized at EA to inform development and design decisions. It's fascinating to see how some user interactions can be completely overlooked in the design process without the insight made available from quantitative user research.

Aside from being an excellent orator, Veronica gave a great insight into the cutting edge techniques for user experience testing. Obviously we don't all have EA's resources but I walked away inspired, thinking just how cleverly UX can be implemented if you plan your research properly and set your variables correctly.

Great presentation, very informative and an excellent venue in VFS - Big crowd too! Annoying photographer with a mega flash constantly grabbing stills. How many shots of a speaker do you need? :D

Great talk! Veronica brought excellent data backed examples of what she does as a Games User Researcher that made a quite technical field accessible.

Numbers Are Our Friends: Making the Case for Web Analytics on Thursday Oct 27, 2011

The presentation and delivery was great, but I thought it was too introductory (and I'm no analytics expert). Given that this was the first UE meetup charging admission I was expecting that it would offer deeper content. 30 min seemed too short and increased detail about case studies, methods and tools would have made it more useful.

Lynne made a strong case for why UX and Designers should care about Web Analytics. Granted, I'm an online marketer whose work has a strong concentration on Web analytics, so I'm already a believer. Having said that, I gained a lot of insight into how UX practitioners perceive Web analytics. I came out of the event having learnt points that will make my argument in favour of joining Web analytics and design even stronger. She was very well prepared and confident in her delivery. It was clear that the information she provided was backed by proficiency in the field.

Thought it was a very well done presentation. Clear and informative, good real world examples. Lynne is an engaging presenter.

The presentation was very beneficial to me, as the topic of utilizing more analytics in my work has been top of mind. I have not historically been an analytic data person, but totally agree with Lynne that the numbers , whether data points or ROI, are major credibility boosters. Of course, using hard quantitative numbers as usability testing outputs has been part of my arsenal for years, I am now consciously looking to expand on the data sets I use and drive the need for. As always, Linda (I didn't get a chance to say hi) had some great insights as well on how to engage stakeholder members to own (so you can look to them as experts in their domain) the specific data points you need to get the full picture. This is empowering for all parties, so an excellent tip. Linda is a master of workshop/meeting management. Lynne's presentation also provided ample opportunity for Q&A and open discussion. Thanks Lynne!

Good info for those who design without analytics and good reminders why for those of us who do, plus some new ways to think about tying the two together for me. Well done Lynne.

Always so great to see an organization foster information sharing – not only internally (I loved the openness and many ways staff published to the intranet), but to have Heather take time away from her busy team (of 2, I can’t believe it) to give such a helpful overview. Thanks VanCity, thanks Heather!

Heathers presentation was great. Topic very relivant for my current SharePoint 2010 intranet roll-out project. I will try some of the ideas she gave to try to encorage users to use the "social" features.

Heather's presentation was brilliant! She is a great speaker, full of quiet confidence and deep experience. The scope and flow of the audience-focussed material was spot-on. From the screens demonstrated, it looks like Heather, her Vancity team, and the folks at Habanero did a great job. Seems to me, that this is a giant leap in the direction of where social Intranet's will be going. Very glad I attended.
