Short Format Presentations

This month’s VanUE session consists of presentations of 10 minutes’ duration, followed by 5 minutes of questions from the audience. Presentation topics were submitted by UE practitioners from a range of disciplines whose solutions demonstrated a user centred process. The selected topics range from case studies to research issues and will demonstrate user experience solutions.

The following presenters were selected:

Julian Richards
Blast Radius
Julian Richards has worked as an interaction architect at Blast Radius since 2000, focusing on the structure and strategy of user experience for clients such as Nike, Nintendo, Heineken and Sony. His background is in library and information studies.

Rahel Anne Bailie
Intentional Design Inc.
Rahel Anne Bailie is president of Intentional Design Inc., a company specializing in performance improvement for communication products. She has won several awards for her work, and uses her skills in technical communication to her usability and interface design work.

Linda Francis
Consultant
Linda is a senior consultant specializing in usability with more than fifteen years of experience and leadership in the design, analysis, development and implementation of large and small software applications and websites. She is a strong leader in the evaluation, facilitation and validation of the user experience aspect of applications.

Bruce Byfield
A former Contributing Editor at Maximum Linux, Bruce Byfield has written on free software for the Linux Journal and Newsforge, and introduced open source products to the market. He is currently writing a book on OpenOffice.org for No Starch Press, an O’Reilly and Associate affiliate.

Stephen Webster and Gagan Diesh
Vancouver Film School
Stephen Webster is the Head of the Interactive Media program and a User Experience consultant. Gagan Diesh is the Interactive Media supervisor and is a freelance design consultant. Both teach and practise user experience design using methods and processes that are both practical and scaleable to any project or solution.
